Your Saturday is the biggest day of your week. It is also the day the entire hair extension supply chain is asleep.

Check the shipping policy of almost any professional extension brand and you will find the same sentence in different words: business days mean Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays excluded. One brand processes until 12pm EST. Another until 2pm PST. A third until 5pm ET. Every one of them stops at Friday afternoon and does not start again until Monday morning.

Which means the color that did not arrive Friday is not arriving Saturday. It is arriving Tuesday.

What This Actually Costs You

The math is not the hair. The math is the chair.

A client books a full install. She has been waiting six weeks for the appointment. The box does not arrive, or it arrives with the wrong shade, or she changed her mind about length at the consultation and you need one more bundle. You have three options and all of them are bad: cancel and lose the day, substitute a shade you are not happy with, or work around a gap and hope she does not notice.

A cancelled Saturday full install is $600 to $1,200 of chair time that does not come back. You cannot resell that slot on 12 hours notice. And the client who waited six weeks now waits another two, which is where cancellations turn into refunds and refunds turn into reviews.

Meanwhile the box sits in a warehouse in another state with nobody in it until Monday.

Why Everyone Stopped at Friday

It is not laziness. It is a real operational cost that most brands decided was not worth paying.

Weekend fulfilment means staff on a Saturday. It means a carrier pickup scheduled rather than a driver who happens to come by. It means somebody who can pull, pack, weigh and label while the rest of the building is dark. For a brand shipping from a third-party warehouse, that is a contract renegotiation, not a decision.

So the industry standardised around a five-day week and taught stylists to plan around it. The advice you will find on most brand sites is some version of order four to five business days before the appointment. Which is fine advice, right up until the moment something goes wrong, and something always goes wrong.

What Saturday Delivery Actually Requires

Here is the part that is genuinely counterintuitive: getting hair to you on Saturday does not require anyone to work on Saturday.

Two things have to be true. The parcel has to leave on Friday, and it has to leave on a carrier service that runs a weekend network. FedEx Express moves on Saturday. Ground does not. USPS moves on Saturday. Most everything else waits for Monday.

So the entire problem collapses into one deadline: get the box to the carrier before the Friday cutoff, on the right service. Miss the cutoff and no amount of paying more fixes it, because the plane has left. Make the cutoff and the hair is in your hands before your first client sits down.

At consultation, order for the install you might do, not the install you planned. The extra bundle you send back is cheaper than the appointment you cancel.
